The other world of the globe, lying across the ocean, speaks up. “Veritas” from the USA would like to make a contribution. Surprisingly, four guys from Kansas are only releasing their second album since they were founded in 2012. After “Threads of Fatality” 2020, one would like to see the “threads of ruin” continue seamlessly.

If you're used to grunge in the USA, it's even more surprising that the truth (“Veritas”) is starting with progressive metal. With guitar-heavy rhythms and less drum-oriented passages we get the opener presented as “Limit”. Was that maybe it already??

What stands out, however, is Denny “The Siren” Anthony’s sometimes very suffering and, in my opinion, bruised voice in “Creation Groans”. Apparently he didn’t get the nickname “The Siren” for nothing. It is reflected vocally throughout the entire album.

“Buried” and “More Than I Can Say” are more fair to his voice. The carefully selected rhythm suits his singing very well. On the other hand, Mark gets to let off steam on the cymbals in “Modulate” and show what he can do with the sticks.

Conclusion: Time will tell whether the guys are already at the “limit” with their second disc. Not convincing enough as a successor for my taste. One should have followed “Morbid State” from the debut album. No great burners, no breakouts to highlight. A solid, equally structured album without a highlight.

I rate “Silent Script” with 7.5 out of 10 Hellfire points.

The compositions show progress and maturity. Main composer Greg Wenk has written some of the best heavy/power/progressive songs you will come across this year. His riffs stick in your mind and his lead guitar work is simply magnificent. Denny Anthony’s is a truly gifted vocalist with respect to the legendary rock/metal singers who still appear as an influence. Geno Alberico lays down some of the most clever bass-lines that together with Mark Zonder’s thunderous drumming style take the album’s experience to a whole new level!

Silent Script shows the group at their very peak and the response is expected to be huge and establish the band’s name for good among hard rock and heavy metal fans worldwide. Check it out now and be a part of the history!
