How did I get to know the band: US Black Metal again, which came to me via Metal Devastation Radio. So let's hear what the Texans recorded:

What do I think of the disc: I don't really know what to think of it. The album sounds interesting, that much has already been said. Somehow modern with some borrowings from Heavy Metal and a quite present bass. The singing of the two is rather clear, but perhaps underlaid with an effect. Difficult to classify.

One of my favorites was BURIED ALIVE. Rather quiet, but with recurring, faster passages in the chorus. The whole thing oscillates somewhere between Doom, Black and Heavy Metal. Crazy mix.

HIGH SPEED DEATH doesn't sound bad either, they took the name literally here and stepped on the gas. On an obscure album that was way ahead of its time, the song would certainly have found its place in the NWoBHM.

Conclusion: They have a sound with recognition value, that's for sure. I don't know who to recommend the album to. Maybe those who are looking for something new, who don't have problems with unusual genre combinations. Just listen here: fullmetalmayhem
