Huh, Gravehuffer again? Didn't I already review Depart From So Much Evil a few months ago? That's right. But now I'm being pointed to the vinyl re-release of the album by another promoter. Nothing extra, but the presentation of a new video! This is the third and last part of the closing track and title track Depart From So Much Evil. The first part of Inferno was already there, now it's Paradise's turn. Maybe the intervening piece Purgatory will also come? For the rest I stand by what I wrote earlier this year:
Traditionally, metal is seen as a desert of homogeneity, in which an oasis of originality rarely appears. With this in mind, Gravehuffer's out-of-the-box style is a breath of fresh air; or just a gadfly in case you're of the very conservative cut. I think that (the music of) Gravehuffer can best be compared to Frankenstein's monster: the cutting and pasting that makes up the composite parts includes fragments of crust, punk, grindcore, thrash and death metal.
Blueprint For An Early Grave initially seems like an intro, with vocal samples and a groovy doom-death background. Exactly halfway through it suddenly turns into grindcore-like, wrought-up aggressive metal. And exactly that atmosphere is maintained for a while. Because Slayberry chops on with even more punk/grind madness. Uniformity threatens to strike when The Cryptid And The Iron Bird also seems to persist in the same craziness. But, as is often the case with Gravehuffer, not everything is as it seems, and so we are treated to a more or less subdued atmospheric middle section, in any case an interesting structure.
Anger also dominates on Brainstorm, but at the same time there is room for tempo and atmosphere changes. In any case, that appeals to me more than the one-dimensional grind / crust / core of Go Murder Pray And Die, which reminds me a bit of Carnivore in the distance.
The previous compact, dynamic songs lead to the pièce de résistance of the album: title track Depart From So Much Evil. This 22 minute song is written about Dante's La Divina Commedia. Traveling through nightmarish realms, orchestration, wailing guitars and thunderous heaviness manifest a terrifying encounter with monsters and demons. Well, if it has to be varied, then so be it. But just as well, the Gravehuffer gentlemen could have performed this long track in shorter compositions, that would have been a bit clearer, because in the end there doesn't really seem to be 1 long composition.
What remains are the diversity in approach, the element of surprise, and with that the idiosyncrasy of this American band. If you like raw, aggressive but also dark punk / hardcore-like metal, then Gravehuffer's Depart From So Much Evil is for you! - wingsofdeath

Since their inception in 2008, Gravehuffer has crafted their sound into an other-worldly amalgamation of Crust, Punk, Metal, Grindcore, and unapologetic down-tuned Sludge-laden Doom. With an assortment of original songs in their repertoire that showcase the vast array of influence the band pulls from and a fearlessness to never conform or compromise, Gravehuffer is in it for the sake of the song. This is evident on their latest release, "Depart From So Much Evil" which features a 22 minute song, of the same title, based on Dante's Divine Comedy with 3 parts, entitled Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradisio in the original Tuscan version. It's now available in 3 vinyl record designs, each based on the 3 parts.
