23 years ago "All Hallows Evil" was founded, which means as much as all hallows are evil. Let's wait and see what the album promises and what it holds. Seeing the musical light of day in Plainfield, Connecticut, releases have been plentiful to date. In addition to seven EPS, two singles, "Coven" is the eighth album.
The Abominable Dr. uses the keyboard, as well as guitar and vocals. And especially for this disc he learned to use the drums. The “abominable Dr” stands out thematically far from other Death Metal albums. Comedy and cannibalism are preferred. Hard to believe, the opener starts very scratchy, the guitar comes to the fore with a great solo. The gentle, harmless voice is surprising for the genre. The scratchy guitar seems to be a trademark of the Abominable Dr. But it sounds very convincing and enriching.
“The Promis Of The Night” takes us to the punk corner. Provocatively fast and yet calming with clear keyboard tones. "Pepper's Ghost" comes us somberly carrying and hellish. The guitar gives the track a demonic note.
Quite different is “Calcified Heart”, a ballad that you would not have expected here. Nothing of hectic, demons and hard riffs. The final track is also sluggishly instrumentalised. “A Final Moment” ends like its predecessor in a balladesque manner.

Conclusion: purely from the melodic one can be satisfied, rhythms are deliberately chosen aggressively and provocatively. The text in track 6 calls for blasphemous views. It fits the whole work. Considering all 13 songs, the harder pace for the topic is missing. His attitude towards the church is more than clear, as freedom of speech is used. It's not for nothing that 13 tracks have been chosen for the "Coven" (witches' circle). I give his album an unbiased 8 out of 10 Hellfire points . hellfire

Release Date: 5/19/2023

FFO: Paradise Lost, Tribulation, Jake E. Lee era Ozzy

Location: Southeastern CT

The new All Hallow’s Evil album Coven—pronounced with a long “o” in the Mark Borchardt tradition—is a Gothic Heavy Metal album equally influenced by 80s Ozzy, 90s Paradise Lost, and the song Moloch sings in the CHiPs 1982 Halloween special. All Hallow’s Evil is Jay Gironimi (rhymes with “astronomy”). After releasing 2 singles, 7 EPs, 8 full length albums, 3 re-recordings and even 1 book, he finally learned to play drums to record Coven. He currently lives in Southeastern Connecticut, but not in the fancy part. Thanks to cystic fibrosis, he is on a lot of prescriptions.
