Nashville, Tennessee? You automatically think of country music like the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum or Johnny Cash, but rarely of traditional hard rock. But that's exactly what LOST CIRCUS have dedicated themselves to, a band that describes their work as "music from a lost era when the vocalists soared, the guitarists were gunslingers, the bass was punchy and the drums were thunderous". . After a successful live debut and opening act for Accept in Nashville, LOST CIRCUS are ready to head out into the night to share their songs with everyone
The disc, simply named after the band, contains eight tracks that are essentially based on the glorious 80s, but at the same time come across as fresh and unused. Of course you could name one or the other reference if you wanted to, but in the end it all depends on whether the music is any good or not. And that can definitely be said in the affirmative when it comes to LOST CIRCUS.
From the very first note, the quintet lays a cultivated, catchy hard rock on the parquet floor, which sometimes gets a little more, sometimes a little less pithy to the point. If you want to criticize anything at all, then it's the relatively constant tempo of the disc, unfortunately you won't find a real full-throttle number on “Lost Circus”. The bouncer “This Place Is Mad” comes closest to the whole thing, because the number has enough drive to get the neck muscles boiling and is guaranteed to quickly become a fan favorite live.
But also the opening with “Broken Shadows” is by no means badly chosen, because the number shines in addition to short-term speed increases in the bridge through a strong hook line, which quickly settles in the auditory canals. "She's A Fire" also proves to be just as catchy and has hit potential as the opener, while "Get Over Me" with its delayed rhythm is bulkier and more edgy, which is more than good for the disc in terms of variety. Those who prefer something more relaxed should get their money's worth with the ballad "Ashes In Rain".
Unfortunately, after a little more than half an hour, the fun is over again. Still, LOST CIRCUS got off to a remarkable start with their debut, which hopefully more albums will follow.
I give it 8 out of 10 Hellfire points. hellfire
