Genre: Melodic Death/Thrash Metal

Release Date and Label: The album was released sometime in March 2023 via Nebula Production.

Other band releases: This is the band's eighth album, plus four compilations, three splits, two each live albums, demos, EP's and videos and one split video.

How did I get to know the band: Unfortunately, this album got to me too late, but because I was curious, I broke my rule and am now discussing it after all. Metal from exotic countries usually arouses my interest. Maybe Metal Devastation Radio knows that, maybe they don't, but I'm always happy about such specials.

How do I find the record: The Thrash roots can be clearly heard here, but that doesn't detract from the album. They shred through their eight songs in a nasty mid-tempo, taking the best of both genres and skilfully merging them into a damn awesome album. Yes, it says Melodic Death Metal, but the melodies are used so subtly and skilfully that they tend to amplify the heaviness and brutality.

TREMENDOUS SACRIFICE (TRUE SEED) did it right away. This is where I really got the melody for the first time, because it was built in with a synth. So the song was made epic without watering it down. An absolute recommendation.

With my second favourite, I thought long and hard about which track to include in the list. In the end I chose LEMURIA – THE ANCIENT EASTERN PARADISE. Again they add an orchestral synth but at the same time turn up the heaviness a bit.

Conclusion: A really great album. I would have kicked my ass with a monogram if I hadn't introduced it to you guys. Deathheads and Thrashers who also like it a bit melodic and/or orchestral (but not too much) should definitely give this a listen. fullmetalmayhem

FFO: Death, Slayer, Celtic Frost

Location: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Established in Kangar, Perlis, Malaysia in 1987 by Jaie Jokhannaz (vocals), CD (Guitar), Din (Bass), & Che Mat (Drums). They have released 2 demo tapes, which are demo 1: Doctrine To Hell (1990) & demo 2: Assassin Led By Blasphemy (1992), before recording their first album. These demo tapes were distributed among local and international metal music enthusiasts through ‘mail order’.  They were soon given the opportunity to record more albums!

Seeing how live performances help impact a band’s reputation and direction, Sil Khannaz started being active by joining both big and small gigs that range from the local scene to the international scene. They have played many shows including Hammer Sonic Jakarta International Metal Festival as well as opening for Dark Funeral, Arch Enemy and Napalm Death!

In conjunction with the release of this album, they have also produced the first ever animated music video in the history of their local rock and metal scene for the track ‘Saktimuna’ which can be watched on their YouTube channel or below!
