With "Crossing Over" ILLUSIONS OF GRANDEUR deliver a song right at the beginning, which ends in a refrain whose melody picks you up completely and stays in your memory. "DOWN, A Silence" and "Upon My Life" follow three more strong songs, all of which impress with their appealing melodies and lots of polyphony. Another high point follows with "The Prophet", a catchy song that builds towards the end. "Take Me Alive" and "We Ryse" are cool mid-tempo songs. "The Wolf" is a dark chunk at times, which is loosened up again and again by simple, catchy riffs and sing-along melodies. Not forgetting "Everlasting Fire", one of the heaviest songs on the album.

 That the moaning is on a very high level is undeniable, because ILLUSIONS OF GRANDEUR have delivered a small masterpiece with "The Siren"  . Maybe the whole thing doesn't eat into your ear canals right away; But songs like "Falling" or one of my favorites "The Storm" and  the closing "DEMONS"  show how ILLUSIONS OF GRANDEUR should sound like. Even if the album didn't appeal to me right away, I have to honestly admit that the record has now more than opened up to me. "The Siren" turned out to be a really strong album. metal-division-magazine
