Nattsjäl are a band from Sweden that plays a mixture of black, viking, folk and thrash metal and this is a review of their self released 2023 album "Of Chaos Supreme".

A very heavy and melodic sound starts off the album while folk instruments can also be heard briefly. Vocals are done in mostly a aggressive viking metal style along with the music being mostly rooted in black metal along with the clear singing being done in more of pagan metal style and the solos and leads are done in more of a melodic direction.

Spoken word parts can also be heard in certain sections of the recording while the riffs also bring in a great amount of thrash metal elements. At times the vocals also bring in more of a first wave style along with the faster sections of the songs also adding in a decent amount of blast beats and tremolo picking can be heard which also gives the music more of a raw feeling.

Acoustic guitars are also added on some of the tracks. and there are also a few of interludes in between each song as well as the album also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, female vocals can also be heard briefly. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Norse Paganism and Chaos themes.

In my opinion Nattsjäl are a very great sounding mixture of black, viking, folk and thrash metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Valkyria" and "Of Chaos Supreme". 8 out of 10. occultblackmetalzine
