Solid thrash home cooking.
METHANE from Sweden has been around for about ten years. The quartet with two guitars sees its stylistic alignment between the related genres of thrash and groove metal. The formation begins the new year with the (mini) album "Kill It With Fire", whereby one may ask oneself why the word "album" is used at all with a playing time of about 30 minutes. The part brings together seven tracks, some of which have already been released as digital singles since 2019.
On "Kill It With Fire" the group demonstrates their muscular thrash sound with powerful riffs and accurate rhythm work. A certain SLAYER influence cannot be ignored. The singer's rough and angry voice suits the music well. The disc kicks off with the title track, and this one with an intro dominated by the drums. This is the first example of some special little ideas that always catch people's attention, like later the bass interlude in 'Accuser (Of The Brethren)' or the sluggish intro of 'A Blood Red Sky' with guest musician CJ Scioscia from BLOOD FEAST.
But apart from such interesting details, the music seems very homogeneous. The style of all pieces is consistently quite similar. As an indication of the routine approach, the fact that, with the exception of the somewhat shorter opener, the other titles vary only slightly by four and a half minutes playing time. There are also hardly any melodic counterpoints to the typical Thrash Metal. The lead breaks are okay, as are the guitar solos. However, there is an uptick here on the last two tracks, the playful groove metal track 'Down In The Gutter' and the traditional thrasher 'Thin The Herd'.
"Kill It With Fire" is a decent Thrash Metal disc. If you want to shake your head to tried and tested sounds, you won't be disappointed. Anyone looking for more original and ambitious material will not be completely satisfied. METHANE stays behind one or the other rival band. - Powermetal

The album reverberates unapologetic thrash metal guitar riffing courtesy of guitarists Jimi Masterbo and Markus Grundstrom paired with the intense drumming of newly inducted drummer Jonathan Fundin . The album also features a colaboration with CJ Scioscia from New York City area thrash legends Blood Feast , who shreds a solo on track 5 ' A Blood Red Sky '.
Tim commented in a press release "The lyrics for the album have a darkened tone of irony about our contemporary societal woes and some deeply personal songs as well, of life and all its miseries. The music on the album sounds brutal, we really got a sick mix of old school thrash and heavy pit provoking groove riffs."

The music video depicts today's society, social media junkies hopped up Facebook likes. The idea for the song came from a day Tim was going through his friends list, deleting people that had no reason to be there. " I was culling them, deleting someone from your page is worse than death for some people. I think we are all going fuckin' crazy. Its a virus and we're all infected"
