Behind the name of Inner Urge is the Canadian multi-instrumentalist Matt Whitehead who found in the Turkish Berzan Önen (known on YouTube) the singer for his musical project. Inner Urge made their debut in October by self-producing this "Consume and waste", an album consisting of nine tracks for a total duration of almost 52 minutes. As usual, the comparisons made during the presentation of the disc are completely misleading; Inner Urge, in fact, basically don't have much to do with Queensryche, Iron Maiden and Dream Theater, given that they practically play a pleasant Power Metal with several hints of Prog, which could recall in some passages our Vision Divine and Secret Sphere as well as, to leave Italy, the first Voyager or Theocracy. In short, something not immediately catchy and far from pimping, but a certainly fascinating and elegant sound, enriched by the voice of the Turkish singer who proves to be very versatile and expressive, with a warm and hoarse uvula (listen to "Liberate your mind" , as an example). On a purely instrumental level Matt Whitehead proves that he knows how to do it both with the guitar and with bass and drums, without however giving evident signs of preference for one or the other; however, it is above all the songwriting that surprises positively, given that the pieces are actually all interesting and convincing, without exception of any kind and despite a not exactly short playing time (all the songs settle over 5 minutes in duration). In short, there is a lot of value in this "Consume and waste" which, we remind you, is only the debut album by Inner Urge. If these are the premises, we can count this project among the most interesting, talented and promising ones; all that remains is to hope that some more attentive label realizes their value… Ad maiora! - allaroundmetal

Short Bio: Inner Urge is an original metal band created by Matt Whitehead of Nanaimo, BC, Canada. Matt wrote and recorded everything then enlisted the services of Berzan Önen to give his signature touches on vocals. Currently, Matt and Berzan are the only members of Inner Urge but are located on opposite sides of the world.
