Why bother with all the arse ache and politics of band dynamics when you can do it all yourself? This is the benefit of black metal, one person doing everything, one goal, one vision and fried chicken. A musician who has been on top of their game is Stein Akslen, the man behind Minneriket who is back with their latest album ‘Gjennom meg går ingen til hvile’.

Those who know what Minneriket is all about will find here with ‘Gjennom…’ that the magic is still well and truly spellbinding. Those who aren’t in the know will find a black metal album delivered by a bloke on top of their game. ‘Gjennom…’ is an album which sticks to its black metal guns and there is everything here that fans of the genre have come to expect from the genre as breakneck tremolo picking drives this album forward backed up by some thunderous blastbeating. This is juxtaposed through some ambient passages which really brings ‘Gjennom…’ to life allowing the listener to get that ‘something else’ from a release that without it would realistically be quite generic. However, fans of God Speed, Jotunspor and Batushka and even towards the more symphonic end of the spectrum with bands such as Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth with their arrangements will enjoy this release.

For a black metal release, ‘Gjennom…’ does exactly what it needs to do. It’s a solid example of what Minneriket are capable of and if you’re looking for a good album, then ‘Gjennom…’ is a top shout. - Metal Digest

Release Date: January 21, 2022

FFO: Myrkur, Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir

Location: Norway

The music available on "Gjennom meg går ingen til hvile" is in the style of the band's previous two singles. The album features a pretty big roster of session musicians, even more than on the first two singles. Some are amateurs, some are more known people.

Stein Akslen has done extensive field-recordings out in nature to supplement the compositions on the album. He comments: «That had me sleeping outside in the forests for a few nights to record an owl, and all other sounds - including wolves - are real. There are no samples at all on the album.

He adds: «In total I have been working on this album for about 6 years now. There's a lot of memories tied up on it, and it will be dedicated in loving memory to those we have lost. Some of the lyrics on the album actually dates back about 17 years, so I've used this album to really go full circle.
