AMKEN - PASSIVE AGGRESSION - Reviewed By metalcrypt ! Check it out here at this link: http://www.metalcrypt.com/pages/review.php?revid=14163
I rather liked Amken's EP, Adrenaline Shot, that came out in 2015 but missed their debut album, 2017's Theater of the Absurd. I'm back on board with their second album, Passive Aggression. Not a lot has changed in the intervening years as Amken is still playing no-holds-barred Euro thrash with harsh vocals and heavy as hell riffs. The songwriting is not inventive but solid enough to keep your head banging throughout the album, but I said in my review of Adrenaline Shot that I was worried about the band executing over the course of a full album. My fears are at least partially realized as it feels like a few good ideas were stretched pretty thin on Passive Aggression. Other than "Dead Man's Land", where they slow things down to an evil, epic pace and add a cool intro, I can't really distinguish one song from the next and there is also a hint of hardcore in some of the singing which may work for some fans, but hurts the songs, in my opinion. All that said, if you are into early Kreator, Destruction, Sodom, etc., I think you'll enjoy Amken's in-your-face approach even if it isn't anything you haven't heard many times already. - http://www.metalcrypt.com/pages/review.php?revid=14163

AMKEN was formed in 2011 in Athens, Greece. Blood-pumping thrash metal that bridges the gap between old-school and the new-era, crafted by the band's unique style.
With the new album “Passive Aggression”, out on August 26th 2022 via Massacre Records, AMKEN really elevated their game. A wall of sound is created by the constant "dialog" between their singers, the super tight rhythm section that the bass provides alongside with the relentless pummeling drumming, combined with intricate riffs and emotional melodies that the guitars unleash. Fotis Benardo (Sixfornine, ex-Septicflesh) was behind the mixing desk, inspiring the band to shape their new sound which blends originally their vintage roots with modern elements and influences. The mastering was completed by George Nerantzis (Abbath, Dark Funeral, Pain Of Salvation), and artwork fashioned by Adam Burke (Vektor, Fit for an Autopsy, Hooded Menace, Creeping Death).
