Leeds UK based Satanic Black Metal multi-instrumentalist one man project Goatchrist are back! With something so wildly unexpected and completely bat-shit crazy it’s pretty much impossible to even suggest which drugs will match or enhance the listening experience. The (unholy) bastard child of Gogol Bordello and Cardiacs trying every instrument in one of those musician stores that has everything from Schecter Demon 7’s to Bechstein grand pianos and bespoke accordions.

All at once, and from the Blackest of Metal perspectives.

Searing Metal solos dissolve into Ska, melodic clavinet passages break via Glitch production into Bach piano and Tim Smith furioso rhythmic stabs. The production is effectively in itself another instrument. Your brain most likely waves a little white flag and escapes out of your left ear while you aren’t paying attention.

It’s safe to say that every possible time signature is on here somewhere (probably on a 14-string Chapman bass, or maybe a Xylophone) and every possible conventional rhythm pattern from Polka to Bossa Nova and Dubstep gets at least one chance to show its funky stuff.

Talking of Funky; fretless bass solo? Check.

For all the intimidating sounding description; this is first and foremost a good slice of painstakingly precise, and beautifully assembled multidisciplinary fun. Yes, it is deeply challenging if you try dissecting it to see what it’s made of, but you can just put it on in the car and let it flow by. Each listen through feels like a fresh experience, it is quintessentially the Quantum record; each time you listen you may pick up on something you missed last time that alters your perception of all that follows. And yet for all of the wilfully oblique nature, you most probably will put it back on just to see what happens next time. - Metal Digest

Short Bio: Formed in 2014, Goatchrist is a mouthpiece for a variety of occult and esoteric spiritual teachings from a variety of different schools of thought, channelled through a varied – yet consistently eclectic – musical sound. Comprised of sole member Jacob Guilherme, Goatchrist has released several albums, dealing with such topics as Pythagoreanism, Gnosticism, Vajrayana Buddhism, and (most prominently) Kabbalah and Jewish mysticism. Whilst the musical roots of Goatchrist lie in black metal – the debut album in 2019, Pythagoras, and 2021’s Odes to the Radiant One evidencing this – the sound has continually evolved to encompass a broader range of instrumentation and compositional techniques.
