Fans often bemoan a stylistic change in a band. How many times are comments seen online: “they were better doing when they played x/y genre”? Yet sometimes a change in sound is a gamble which pays off and when Man Machine Industry (MMI) changed their sound from industrial to heavy/thrash metal it solidified the Swedes. This year has MMI following up their excellent 2020 ‘Doomsday Clock’ with their latest EP ‘Eschaton 1. – Reckoning Day’.

For those who enjoyed ‘Doomsday Clock’, ‘Eschaton…’ is a great way to follow it up. Thankfully, this isn’t an EP which is stuffed full of leftovers from that MMI last offering, the dregs which didn’t make the album as MMI do a quick cash in; far from it in fact, ‘Eschaton…’ shows a band in a creative patch, keeping themselves busy, writing and perfecting that craft as once again, tracks such as ‘Betrayer of the Code’, ‘Black Rain’ and ‘Apophis (Prophet of Chaos)’ will have the listener singing along quickly as MMI show all the appeal of Tad Morose, Judas Priest and Accept with its balls to the wall drive.

This is a good little EP showing MMI in full flow. If ‘Eschaton…’ is the sound of what is to come on the next MMI, then based on this, that next release is something to really look forward to. - Metal Digest

MAN MACHINE INDUSTRY is the solo project created by producer/songwriter/front-man J. Bergman who has a history as the drummer in SLAPDASH (Nuclear Blast rec) and ROSICRUCIAN (Black Mark Prod). With the album “DOOMSDAY CLOCK“ 2020 GMR Music) J.B raised the bar as a songwriter/producer/musician and now MMI is back with a vengeance.” ESCHATON I. Reckoning Day” is the first one out of three EP/Mini-albums in the new Man Machine Industry album-trilogy. The trilogy theme are different and takes on ”the end of the world”. Not all of the songs carries the theme but the cover art and most songs do.

The three albums will also have a guest vocalist on one song each and on ”ESCHATON I” it’s none other than the legendary Mr. Dave Hill of the NWOBHM/Progressive Rock pioneers DEMON, who does a duet with J. Bergman on the song ”Information Overload”, co-written with another talented songwriter/producer, Erik Mårtensson of ECLIPSE.
