OUTWARD - MMXX-MMXXII - Reviewed By OccultBlackMetalZine ! Check it out here at this link: https://occultblackmetalzine.blogspot.com/2022/10/outwardrays-of-sun2022-ep-review.html

Outward  are  a  band  from  the  Czech  Republic  that  has  been  featured  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  post  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2022  ep  "Rays  Of  The  Sun".

Drum  beats  start  off  the  album  along  with  some  clean  playing  which  also  brings  elements  of  post  rock  into  the  music.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  while  both  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  some  clear  vocals  also  being  added  into  the  recording  at  times.

All  of  the  musical  instruments  also  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  along  with  the  music  also  showing  some  influences  of  post  punk  and  doom  metal.  the  second  track  was  recorded  live  and  all  of  the  music  sticks  to  either  a  slow  or  mid  tempo  direction  along  with  the  riffs  also  adding  in  a  decent  amount  of  melody.

On this  recording  Outward  expands  on  the  post  black  metal  style  that  they  introduced  on  the  previous  recording.  The  production  sounds  very  dark  and  raw  while  the  lyrics  cover  life,  death  and  beyond  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Outward  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  post  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  ep.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  "Rays  of  The  Sun".  8  out  of  10. - OccultBlackMetalZine

MMXX - MMXXII is the first physical release of Prague-based band Outward. It is a compilation of all the band's studio recordings from 2020 to 2022. All songs are freshly remixed to enhance the listening experience of  roaring guitars, stomping drums, thunderous bass and vicious vocals. Over the six songs on this release, you can hear combinations of various styles and genres, yet everything sounds like Outward. From atmospheric repetitive soundscapes of Cremation of Care, dark paths of dynamic shifts in Akin, post-punk-esque riffing of Dancing Shadows and Rays of the Sun, all the way to the live recording of the post-metal juggernaut Aftermath. In conclusion, this compilation shows the past, the present and the future of Outward ́s musical direction.

The band was founded in spring 2019 by members and exmembers of Prague based underground bands. The musical style of Outward is not easy to assume. It ́s a mix of post-metal and post-punk with elements of doom metal and black metal. The band is known for giving intense live shows with pure rock ́n ́roll energy giving the crowd a dose of pure emotions. First release was a self-titled EP in the end of 2020 amidst the covid-19 lockdows. The year 2022 saw the band release a single called Rays of the Sun which is a tease of what to expect from their music in the near future and also released a compilation of both the EP and the single, newly remixed to enhance the listening experience, called MMXX - MMXXII. The band continues to play underground gigs and work on their first full-length studio album.
