The new heirs to the throne of the Teutonic Thrash kingdom are back with a special disc this year. The Swabians are children of the German thrash metal scene and valued colleagues of the well-known metal band Tom Angelripper (SODOM) and Ziegler (ABANDONED). In more ways than one, TRAITOR are an A-band and with their new album "Exiled To The Surface" they show why.

Anyone who has had enough of the serious topics and longs for exaggerated horror violence has come to the right place with TRAITOR. The inspiration for the track "66 Exeter Street" comes from an old episode of the X-Files series, in which Mulder and Scully are on the trail of a man-eating mutant. Their investigations lead them to 66 Exeter Street, where the cannibal eats human livers - the ideal template for a song for the Swabian thrashers. Neckbreakeriffs are shredded into the strings in mid-tempo and topped with a howling guitar at the end, to which even Kerry King would bow.

I've known the Swabians for a long time, but the "Total Thrash" documentary that I saw in the cinema blew me away with their music. TRAITOR was responsible for and wrote the theme song. The hammer track reads exactly like the film and shows what today's Teutonic Thrash sounds like. In "Total Thrash" Mozer opens with a hail of bombs from precise drumbeats, which then develops into an offbeat continuous fire, mercilessly, without a break. But wait, it gets even better: Teutonic Thrash kings Angelripper and Ziegler lend their voices, making the song an overkill.

Mozer's (drums, vocals) biting vocals and Hery's and Koch's razor-sharp riffs blend into sheer violence at hell's speed. Just the scream at the beginning of the number "Exiled To The Surface" gives me goosebumps all over my body. Every second is filled with heavy riffs that pound you like a machine gun.

From one of their old songs - namely "Teutonic Storm (2021)" - TRAITOR knew that they shouldn't let it go sour in the past. Now he's experiencing a revival in "Exiled To The Surface". In sound technically polished freshness, the song bangs on the tender ears of the hard metalheads with a rich sound.

TRAITOR'S sheer power knows no bounds, which is clearly reflected in their music. They have been busy making music since 2009 and have found a good balance between quality and quantity. At a reasonable three-year interval, they bang out their crazy ideas in the form of music without giving the band the feeling that it's a money-hungry production machine. "Thrash Command" (2015 "Venomizer" (2015) "Knee-Deep In The Dead" (2018)- all three contain songs that stick in your mind, which really can't be said of every metal band's discography, for example "Thrash Commando" (Thrash Command, 2012), with its hard German-language lyrics, the 2015 song "Teutonic Thrash" (Venomizer), which in my opinion represents the brute force of TRAITOR immensely, or the moshpi hit "Mad Dictator" (Knee -Deep In The Dead). Now they come along with "Exiled To Surface" and inspire the metalheads of all countries again with biting vocals, groovy riffs and merciless drumbeat power that you can't get enough of and if you're as hyped by the album as I am, you can miss the next TRAITOR show. That's a Thrash Command! -

The fourth studio album of the Swabian threshing squad TRAITOR is probably the most versatile of her career so far. From the Teutonic old-school sound of "Total Thrash", the title song of the documentary that will be released in cinemas this summer, to German thrash metal, guest vocals by Tom Angelripper (SODOM) and Holger Ziegler (ABANDONED), to the cover of the WHAM classic "Careless Whisper", everything is represented that makes the hearts of friends beat faster in hyper speed metal.

Inspired by "Squeeze", one of the creepiest "The X-Files" episodes ever, in which serial killer Tooms is up to his mischief, the song "66 Exeter Street" creates a similarly sinister atmosphere as once SLAYER's "Dead Skin Mask". The beastly snarling vocals of drummer Andreas Mozer paired with razor-sharp riffs and an ominously booming bass, drives the listener pleasant, cold shivers down the spine and pure fear sweat on the forehead. Perfectly set to music, sheer horror.

"The Thrash Commando from Balingen strikes back. The title track of their album "Exiled To The Surface" should be proof enough for the fact that TRAITOR have finally arrived in the first rank of the teutonic Thrash Metal. The riff storms unleashed by the two guitarists are precise as if cut with a scalpel, despite the speed of light, and the drummer's vocals, reminiscent of a young Mille Petrozza, cut through the eardrums like a phaser through Klingon steel. "Get ready for the thunder of the Teutonic Storm!"

For the documentary "Total Thrash", which will be released in German cinemas at the end of May and tells the story of German thrash metal, TRAITOR was not only allowed to contribute the title song of the same name, but also none other than Ruhrpott veteran Tom Angelripper of SODOM did the honors of singing the guest vocals in the studio. If that's not an accolade! Here the old school meets the new generation and the vibe of the 80s is transported into the 2020s. In the truest sense of the word "great cinema". This is also the official cinema movie Track for the Documentary "Total Thrash - The Teutonic Story". The Movie is right now in the German Cinemas and will be soon available on DVD/Blue-ray and for streaming (Stream will be online in September). Can metal be danceable? Is it allowed to shake a leg in the Circle Pit? You may. And you can! With their cover of the "WHAM!" classic "Careless Whisper", TRAITOR have managed to square the circle with a wink, put on the 80s cuddly hit and make it sound so brutal, dirty and groovy at the same time that even George Michael starts headbanging in his crypt. The first metal track that you can be WHAM'ed by!
