We'll go all the way to Seattle. Through Athens and even a forest of cedar trees, which adorns this album as a title. As soon as "Carved Ignorance" came in, with that terrifying bass drum and guitars then pouncing on a barbaric theme, I couldn't help but think of the dark side of the Emerald of Washington state and bands like Alice In Chains. And not only that. The voice has this something. It's the depth, it's the tsampoukas, it's the mentality... All together and each one alone. When "Raging Groove" attacks... That's where you realize that the shape has worked a lot. From ride saucer to kouple, guitar riff, second vocals and technical blackness.

"Hallucination" features this guitarist that makes you stick with it. Great supeRock, with the voices intertwined in a completely melodic way. “But who the hell is keeping score”; Honest wonder and excellent rhythmic behind the vocals. We said it and we wrote it, the guys are craftsmen and they know how to make it out in an impressive way in their songs. "Not Enough" rockes and revs and throws us in the face of a wonderful kouple and a crispy chorus. The kids are having fun with it, that's for sure. They like it and that's how we like it. It's the same of music. When it covers its creator perfectly, it is mathematically certain that it will be liked by those "from the outside". The wah on the solo is quick to confirm and make the necessary fuss to turn the song into a reason for an exit. What, now that the tambouro is going to become two pieces, now we will say goodnight? But nothing!

Let's change the pace. In 12/8 we will move, up to a point. Then the band changes measure to "Slipping Away." Love between Thin Lizzy and Monster Magnet? Well, are things like that happening? Moore, they are made and produced! In "The Fly" we watch how a mystical introduction is slowly being built, in order to reach the necessary crater, which is essentially the children's park of our tomorrow. The band flirts with Metal guitars and dark gruvarita playing. And then came this "Pennies From Heaven. Gazati and garage riffara and souperoKato on vocals, which explode because that's how it makes fun! Listen to the guitars and the themes that go through. Listen to how the speed of the pace goes up and down. Listen and think about how human mastery directs organs in a way that deserves to take up space in our minds.

Epilogue with "Space Cowboys", with the introduction that wants to see our necks overworked. The drums are tying for about two meters and re-entering. The thematic solo before the voice prepares the situation. These guys play here as if they've made sixty albums and done forty world tours. Comfortable, stakatoi, with a leveling style. I really liked the approach, I think it is a very strong addition to the hybrid and it is another VERY GOOD release from a Greek band. Yes, we are the Rock capital of the world! And yes, these are our certificates, our green passes and whatever and whatever else you put to baptize them. I wish the children well-travel their album. The rest of the interview... - Noizy

Rascal Whack, is a five-member Heavy Rock band from Athens that was created in 2013. Their new album is called Maliveni and through it they redefine themselves and tell us a new story.

Maliveni was released on June 24th and includes 8 compositions. Although they remain faithful to the heavy rock genre that they serve & prefer, the grunge, stoner & heavy metal references are very intense in every song. That creates a very familiar and comfortable – almost old fashioned - atmosphere for the listener, however they carry a unique aesthetic and sensitivity.

The word Maliveni, means «cedar-forest» and is an area that literally exists in the suburbs of the city of Athens. The album describes the arrogant expansion of the city, its suffocating character and the effect that has on people, constantly asks for more and gives less and less. Maliveni is the antithesis of this chaos. The return to the roots, the aim to pay attention to our inner self as human beings, the need to live authentically, away from supposed patterns and idols.

This is Maliveni. The escape, the sacred place of redefining and distancing oneself from ignorance and deception.

Produced by Rascal Whack and Theodore Zefkilis, Mixed by Theodore Zefkilis, Mastered by Apostolos Siopis (Siopis Masters), Recorded at SCA studios, by Theodore Zefkilis. Music & compositions by Rascal Whack.
