Interview: http://necromance.eu/blackhearth-esp/

From the Basque Country, more specifically from Durango, comes the new work of BLACKHEARTH,"The Wrath Of God", in self-published format that will delight all lovers of melodic heavy metal with an old school touch, in line with groups of the stature of SAVATAGE, QUEENSRYCHE or ICED EARTH.

Formed in 2010 by Alex Hernández (guitars) and Asier Larrea (drums), they recorded their first work barely two years ago, "Blackheart", making themselves known and creating very good expectations, which gave this second work of which we speak today, with a leap of indisputable quality and recorded in the Chromaticity studios, being produced by Pedro J. Monge (VHÄLDEMAR), this is heavy metal.

The trallazo "Betrayal" opens to the album in which Pedro J. Monge himself performs the guitar solo, brand of the house. And it is that BLACKHEARTH,sound like heavy metal, with a contemporary touch, where the atmospheres created by the keyboards of Julio Veiga fit perfectly and do not saturate the set, in addition to having Alain Concepción in the voices, which has nothing to envy to the great vocalists of Europe. "Into The Unknown", continues with a more leisurely tempo, but with guitars at the hands of Alex Hernández and Endika Ortega, who feel sharp, technical and powerful, another of the highlights of the album.

The dark touch to the SABBATH or MERCYFUL FATE, is captivated in certain musical passages such as the beginning of "My Bornless Child", one of the cuts of the album without a doubt, where that touch of darkness that smears the musical structure and directs the bass of Jorge Sánchez, plays with the tempos, the intimate and powerful stanzas and that chorus that opens the light in the storm. "Rotten To The Core", is incisive and much more metal, with a serious tuning, but that classic catchy aftertaste that makes it very enjoyable, just like "This World", with a more macabre touch and those choruses that emphasize the message.

Like any heavy metal album, the half-times or cuts that focus on ballad, are present and here we have two "Nothing But Dust" and the one that closes the work "Banished Forever", intimate and enveloping, keeping the first a guitar solo of 10 and the last of it becomes the ballad of the album, more epic and more emotional, with a trickster chorus and very well worked vocally.

The song that gives its name to the work "The Wrath Of God", has an old acquaintance of heavy metal and a luxury in the voices, Tim Ripper Owens (JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH ...), forming a duet of 10, with a sound closer to the darkest era of Ripper and in which I personally like it more, fitting perfectly the two tonalities and becoming another of the cuts of the album. "True Belief", continues in the line of the band, rough, powerful and darkened, to take us towards the melodic "Reaching The Shore". BLACKHEARTH,have created a great album, one of the most outstanding within the national music scene of 2021; if heavy metal is your thing, they should not go unnoticed. - Necromance Magazine
