The world of high fantasy is dominated by power metal bands and usually, you can find Blind Guardian tucked up by the fire reading ‘The Silmarillion’ for the thousandth time. But what of dark fantasy? The world without the heroes, the one of necromancers, blood bathers and liches? Well, Brundarkh have you covered as they venture through the dark portal to deliver their debut EP ‘Haunted Worlds’.

Formed by composer Heino Brand and producer Caleb Bingham, the South African duo have done their best to meld the power of melodic death metal with the soaring arrangements of symphonic metal. And it works. Yet, this isn’t the symphonic moments of corsets, falling snow and opera, this is a dark symphony, it’s Cradle of Filth, it’s Dimmu Borgir and they’re doing the danse macabre with Fleshgod Apocalypse and Carach Angren to even the dark soundtracks of video game franchises such as ‘Diablo’, ‘Warcraft’ and ‘The Elder Scrolls’. Through this medium, tracks such as ‘Bells of the Drowned’, ‘Wraith Dominion’ and ‘Tower of Blood’ are able to explore the Nazgul, the dark history of Hungary and other things that go bump in the night.

‘Haunted Worlds’ is an EP which is short and sweet and much like a hobbit dripping in honey, it tastes pretty damned good. Brundarkh have got themselves off to great start and it’ll be interesting to see how they tackle further releases. Metal Digest

Brundarkh is a dark fantasy inspired metal act founded by composer, Heino Brand. Haunted Worlds (EP) was produced and recorded with the help of Caleb Bingham (Athanasia, ex-Zonaria, ex-Five Finger Death Punch).
The EP features the remixed and remastered versions of Wraith Dominion. The original track was recorded and released as a single in February 2021. It centers around the Nine a.k.a. the Ringwraiths or the Nazgûl from J.R.R. Tolkien's, "The Lord of the Rings". The track also features a guest solo by Jori Haukio (Cymatic, ex-Mors Principium Est). Bells of the Drowned focuses on the lore of "The Drowned" from the video game, "Diablo IV". It
was originally released without the intro From the Mist they Come. Tower of Blood and the intro The Price of Immortality are brand new tracks and are inspired by the folklore of Hungary’s, Elizabeth Bathory. The track features Elisheva Abramson as the voice of “Countess Bathory”. The EP was mastered by Thomas “Plec” Johanson at The Panic Room. Art direction/creation by Heino Brand.
