An interesting anthology, they start quite strongly, with notable influences including old school Death Metal with double bass drum, explosive drum percussions, followed and forceful, as it is within the musical style, guttural great! Chords and riffs skinning, brutal and evil! In the song of In Limbo it is totally different, ambient and acoustic, also in Disgorged Suppuration a melody totally on piano, very elegant without a doubt, but then with total brutal and bestial explosion, I could even say that they have Technical Brutal Death Metal Crown Of Thorns another acoustic and atmospheric passage, remind me a bit of Opeth, album 1 has excellent brutal and powerful content! An exquisite Death Metal with quite a musical structure impregnated. CD 2, is a death metal mixed with other styles such as thrash, changes in tempos some faster and others returning to the slow and dark part, this reminds me of the great of Sepultura, the musical technical level with greater structure, work of harmonies and melody is complete, there is a single line and orientation of his style. The demo of '91, totally the production we can hear with more Old School within Death Metal, thrash rhythms can certainly be heard, they also introduce a brief atmospheric theme in the introduction of Temporary Existence. It is a tremendous anthology that must be heard and categorized of some jewels within Death Metal, if released late, but with enough technique and sophisticated style, the voice is great, it is understood quite well throughout the album, the bass line is discreet but the guitar line powerful! The drums with precision and brutality, I think they should be within the classics of Death Metal and pay tribute to such a great era within the style that continues to mark many within Metal. - Rocka Rolla

"PSYCHIC PAWN were gruesome maniacs with tons of technical flair. One of the earliest Cacophonous releases, the Americans’ only album "Decadent Delirium" was a thrilling rush of untutored aggression and vein-popping fretwork that, with hindsight, clearly paved the way for Death Metal’s creative rejuvenation in the early 21st century. Brilliantly twisted stuff and a telling statement of intent from Cacophonous." (Dom Lawson - Metal Hammer) - [ READ THE FULL ARTICLE ]

THRASHBACK RECORDS is pleased to announce that this May we will be releasing a 2-CD collection from the Phoenix, AZ based Death Metal quartet PSYCHIC PAWN titled "Eulogy: The Complete Anthology".
Formed in 1989, PSYCHIC PAWN would release two highly acclaimed demos, "Expedient Demise" in 1991 and "Wake Of Entity" in 1992. "Wake Of Entity" would catch the attention of England's Cacophonous Records and would release the three track 7" E.P. "Disgorged Suppuration" in late 1993.
In 1993 Cacophonous Records would sign the band and release their debut album "Decadent Delirium" November of 1994 (produced by Bill Metoyer) to much acclaim. Unfortunately this would be the bands only album release. After the demise of PSYCHIC PAWN the members would go on to form other acclaimed bands such as BORN OF FIRE and IMAGES OF EDEN.
"Eulogy: The Complete Anthology" compiles all of the bands studio recordings with remastering handled by Rob Colwell at Bombworks Sound. Includes a 16-page booklet with archival photo's and fliers, and a new interview with guitarist Micha Kite conducted by Jon Norberg of Contaminated Tones Web Zine.
