Fact #1: The story behind the origin of Cannabis

The plant's true origin is still a bit mysterious, but it wasn't the hippie generation that found weed. The Drug Enforcement Administration Museum in Arlington, Virginia, found that the oldest written mention of Cannabis goes back to 2727 BC . The Chinese emperor at that time, Shen Nung (2700 BCE), was said to have supposedly discovered the healing properties of Cannabis; it was used to cure ailments such as rheumatism, menstrual problems, gout, malaria, and absent-mindedness. Shen Nung was also known as the father of Chinese medicine and the author of The Great Herbal aka Pen T'sao, a book modified but still in use today by traditional Chinese medicine practitioners.
