Katana Cartel come from Melbourne and despite being active since 2012 it is with The Sacred Oath that they reach a consistent minutaggio for the first time. What was previously realized (War Part 1, 2016), has laid the foundations to give shape to an album whose roots lie in European power metal and (as far as production is concerned) in a modern approach to the subject matter. The nine actual pieces proposed, are characterized by effective changes of tempo and a compact executive from which transpire wider influences than expected (at least given the premises). This heterogeneity could block some listeners and at the same time tease those who are eager to patiently see new nuances. (Almost) each song offers passages that seem to be heading in an unexpected direction and some of the solutions adopted by the Australian formation (for example the use of the growl in "The Battle" and the groovy moments) risk leading it into territories that are not very functional to the success of episodes pleasantly hard rock (attention to the contagious refrain of "Grenade"!) or evocative (the central break of "The Art Of Self Destruction"). Sometimes guitarists Robert Georgievsky and Dylan Reeves perform riffs with a classically thrash aftertaste, which allow "Judge Shredd" to evolve into a melancholy instrumental coda... epilogue of a hilarious and creatively generous album. - The New Noise
