When do you ever come into contact with Death Metal from Indonesia? Even, rare. All the more WHY DEVOURED is getting my attention. After some research, I find that the chapel is far from new. For almost 20 years at the start, a lot of demos, splits and even a whole disc released. Thus, the present album "The Curse Of Sabda Palon" is nominally the second Langeisen. Textually one deals with one's own mythology and Indonesian history, as can be seen .B from the title of the album (Sabda Palon was a priest and adviser to the king sometime around 1470, who is said to have cursed this king). And: the colleagues grumble in Indonesian! Actually completely sausage, because with the grunt you don't understand anything anyway.
I have to note that here apparently two different acrobats work their vocal chords with the cheese rubs, otherwise I can not quite explain the change in the songs.
Stylistically, people were very much in Sweden, when I personally find influences from ASPHYX or BENDICTION again and again.
The speed changes are already enormous, from very slow to official beating sitdowns, everything is represented. However, not every change has really succeeded, especially the very abrupt changes of direction leave a strange impression on me. The same is true of the riffs, where there is a rumbling between Champions League level and county classes. I wonder if "The Curse Of Sabda Palon" simply recorded every song that was available to fill the time for an entire album.
The production is quite okay, a bit rumbling and a bit raw, but that fits the sound and does not tarnish the overall impression. The album concludes with the DISMEMBER cover "Dreaming In Red".
The performance gap of DEVOURED between and also within the songs is unfortunately very large. So there are numerous good ideas, grippy riffs and strong passages. However, these are often crossed with quite unconventional ideas or very disharmonious parts. This results in a somewhat difficult overall picture and thus does not go beyond mediocrity. - 8/15 - My Revelations

A story from the age of kings in Java dwipa; the great Majapahit kingdom, about 1294-1478. An unwritten tale comes to us from the end of the kingdom's golden years; that a kingdom as great and luxurious as Majapahit can fall apart and disappear without a trace!

War broke out due to a power struggle, the outcome was a religious revolution which caused the split of the kingdom.
Sabda Palon was an honorable advisor to the king of Majapahit who led and gave advice for the benefit of the Kingdom's prosperity.

However, during the rule of King Bre Kertabumi/Brawijaya V (of the fifth generation of Brawijaya rulers) at the end of the fourteenth century, the counsellor's advice fell on deaf ears. Eventually, war broke out and the kingdom was invaded.

At last, the king bowed down to the enemy and was helpless. The people of the kingdom and the advisor were heartbroken by the king's decision. The king's advisor, Sabda Palon, swore an oath. The 13th curse of the oath, which was believed already to have happened several times before, describes a flood. In this flood, people will lose everything: family, wealth, even their lives. Everything will disappear, swallowed by the flood. This 13th curse will happen and hit civilization when the pattern of humanity's behavior exceeds their provision.
