"Death Of The Gunman" is the first album of the group MOTIVIK in an atypical thrash register and which arrives from the USA, from Atlanta, to be more precise where Courtney Simmons ensures the singing in duet with Ryan Roebuck who will also interpret all the instruments. Suddenly, at the level of the song and since it ensures it to two, we will have the right, of the one, to a thrash register ranging from the eradicated to the loudest and of the second, to a clear song that will be relatively varied. On "Away" it's a fusion song that will enrich the whole. We will even find some metalcore passages on "Undismenbered". Musically for the thrash part, it's not badly done, there is rhythm, sometimes more moderate but keeping a rather punchy side and generally with well distilled solos with a beautiful sound. On “The Past Of Tomorrow” there, the clear voices (with guests?) Are superb, and the vocal surges are reminiscent of the approach of ARKAN, expert in the field. On “On The Way Down” it is the heavy aspect that will be present, effective choirs, a very rocky voice and an EDGUY-style chorus. "Pale Rider" moves, pure effective thrash with assured voice. Acoustics and violin on the instrumental with sound effects on "Lament" very melancholy, violin that we will find on the ballad "Let It Be Know" which ends the album, in a hard rock pulling on FM. Atypical why? We have a set of rather melancholic melodies as well as the clear vocals and often in an atmosphere inspired by the atmospheric and doom scene which will come to decorate the titles in a random way. This mixture of musical and vocal strength and an assumed calm is what makes the originality of the group. In this logic, I find it unfortunate that the cover "Souls In Torment" of SACRAMENT does not benefit from this atypical side. We can only congratulate MOTIVIK for the risk taken for its originality which may not be fully appreciated for a first album. This originality is perhaps a little too present and you have to get used to it! However, the thrash side is well anchored and gives a good rendering. For my part, I remain intrigued and I will come back to this album a little later, for an even more attentive listening, while waiting for the next one. How will they refine and assert their style, which will become a style if they continue in this direction. In order not to miss something that is being built, listen to “Inception” with its alternations and its different solos and you will be able to get a concrete idea of their universe. - MONKEYMETAL aka Troll / ODYMETAL / 02.09.2021.

Well we made it to the end of the year, and what a crazy year it has been. Aside from all the craziness, Roxx Records still kept the music coming with almost 40 new releases this year. Many of which have been brand new artists and brand new music. And we are not quite done yet….

Roxx Records is excited to announce our last full release for 2020 the brand new release from Atlanta’s very own Motivik. How do you say Motivik? (MOE-TEE-VICK) what does Motivik mean? Motivik is derived from the word Motive. And what is the Motive of Motivik? To rock you hard with a message of hope and encouragement for a lost generation.

Motivik features Ryan Roebuck handling the music and vocals and Courtney Simmons on vocals. That’s right dual vocalists, modeled in a way much like Gary Lenaire and Guy Ritter from Tourniquet except they pretty evenly share the vocal duties. If you ask Motivik what there sound is like or what their style is they would say they are ‘Melodic Groove Thrash’. A little more on the thrashy side if you ask us, especially when you listen to the bands cover song from Sacrament ‘Souls in Torment’ featuring a guest appearance from Sacrament’s very own Robert Wolfe. Check out a sample of the track here.

Well we are happy to be bringing you the bands debut full length effort entitled, “Death of the Gunman” and it will be coming your way before the end of 2020! If you love thrash, groove, doom and rock all spun together and cooked up with catchy hooks be sure to pick up a copy!
