The Danish progressive / power warriors ROYAL HUNT have been an integral part of my life when it comes to forgetting a darned day. Her monumental masterpieces have always spoken volumes and the god of singing DC Cooper always went one better. Five years have actually passed since my last round and “Dystopia” is not the successor to the great “ Devil's Dozen ” , with “Cast In Stone” in between in 2018 . This, like the present disc, was no longer published in the service of Frontiers Music SRL.

While the previous album was released as an independent release, the band has found a new home for the latest work under the North Point banner.

As on the brilliant " Devil's Dozen ", the group is not stingy with brutal riff and bombast orgies and offers why they are among the big ones in the action. The musically performed epic is heard from the very first second and the Danes leave no stone unturned to cast the listener into an addictive spell. Based on the classic dystopian novel by Ray Bradbury, "Fahrenheit 451", "Dystopia" is a concept album that tells a very dark story of future society. ROYAL HUNT were always the right address for such undertakings .

The opulent bombast prog metal epics make you sit up and take notice and the good Mr. Cooper puts the so-called icing on the cake. In the last section of 2020, the band invokes their own strengths by shaking one epoch-making masterpiece after the other out of their shirt sleeves and doing so with the ease as if there was nothing simpler in this life.

Musical gimmicks such as tempo changes are used to the full, so that you stay spellbound in front of the player so as not to miss anything.

While other troops from this area struggle with the shortcoming of fighting heavily after Dream Theater, this was never the case with ROYAL HUNT . They have found their own way beyond the known norm and also convince power and melodic metallers as well as the proggie community.

In fact, the music the Danes are offering on their latest disc is terrific. Due to the multitude of fragments from Power and Melodic, as well as some bombast spurts and the light progressive interludes, there should be something for a large number of Metalheads!

One thing is fact, this opulent sound journey takes you into wide spheres and the listener doesn't get out of these quickly, because the Danish quintet takes care of that from the first song. This proves the artistic existence with which ROYAL HUNT approach their songwriting in advance. The troupe left no stone unturned and the result is an opulent masterpiece that completely sweeps you away.

Conclusion: ROYAL HUNT succeeded with “Dystopia” Melodic Progressive Metal Masterpiece!
