Like most biographies, Fading Bliss’ starts with the dream of a musician, at some point of his musical career. After more than ten years of thrashing clubs all over Europe, Olivier decided to go back to the beloved early days and to pay somehow tribute to the good old gothic / doom that contributed to the fame of Paradise Lost, Theatre Of Tragedy, My Dying Bride, Katatonia and alike since the early 90’s.
The project was nostalgic in its concept, but appealing. The guitarist soon managed to gather a full and solid line-up and whom with he started to work on new tracks. The first self-titled EP is recorded at Noise Factory Studio with Gérald Jans and self-released in 2011. Often considered as a statement of intent, this first EP already defines the shape of the band’s identity.
Two years and many shows later, Fading Bliss goes back to the Noise Factory Studio to record its first full length album. As melancholic as a rainy day, in an even more doomy mood, From Illusion To Despair is released through Mighty Music (Denmark) and open the doors of a many doom fest appearances to the Belgian sextet, like a.o. Dordrecht Doom Days (NL), Darken The Moon (BE), From Dusk Till Doom (BE), Doom Over Bucarest (RO), Novembers Doom Day (BG), Little Devil Doom Days (NL)…
In the beginning of 2018, Fading Bliss and Malpermesita Records (France) decided to sign a pact to seal their destinies. Journeys In Solitude is the result of five years of work, reflection and evolution and features four long tracks between gothic and funeral doom. First played on stage on March 17th at the Château de l’Avouerie, in Anthisnes (BE), this album is officially released on May 4th, 2018.
