Dave Wolff

Matianak is a black metal band based in Chicago, Illinois, USA, named after an Indonesian folk tale and Malaysian mythological tale about a vampiric ghost, also known as a pontianak or kuntilanak, which is said to be the spirit of a woman who died in childbirth. Frontwoman Arelys Jimenez, a student of Greek mythology and visual art, and a college graduate, visually represents this folk and mythological tale onstage. The band’s full length album Non Compos Mentis is currently available for purchase and work is underway on another full length. Other projects are in the works at the time of this writing.
