Today's lick is a slinky, East Indian-flavored cascading run based on the E dominant pentatonic scale (E G♯ A B D). Its main feature is the use of long grace-note finger slides, which give it a sitar-like quality.
By far the most challenging part of playing this lick is accurately performing the quick slides; it's all too easy to overshoot or undershoot them when they're played at such a fast tempo! Spending time isolating and repeatedly practicing some of the longer slides will help your fingers develop the crucial "muscle memory" required for traversing those particular fretboard intervals at full speed.
Memorizing the lick should be a top priority so that you can focus your complete attention on the fretboard without the constant distraction of having to look away and refer back to the notation.
The tempo is 147 beats per minute, 52 for slow practice.
