Description
Before the Riot Grrrl movement spread across U.S. college campuses in the early 1990's, and prior to Grunge ever percolating in Seattle, four hard living, hard rocking young women set out on a course that would influence both movements and help define the genre of a generation. This is the story of L7. In 1985 Los Angeles, in the midst of Hair Metal bands and Sunset Strippers, these fierce and feminist strangers collided with undeniable chemistry to form a combustible concoction of punk mixed with metal. L7 unleashed that distinct prototype of sound with which the grunge revolution would soon take the world by storm. Shot on home video cameras by the band members themselves, L7: Pretend We're Dead is an immersive journey of those magical musical '90s, and offers a first person perspective on the emotional rise, fall and ultimate redemption of these pioneers of female empowerment. L7: Pretend We're Dead leads us from the City of Angels to touring the world over with the band, steadily growing a legion of fans that would come to revere them as one of the most influential all female bands ever. Don't expect bustiers, at least never intentionally.
