Tonight on Metal Devastation Radio, The Zach Moonshine Show opens the vault on Texas metal history as we welcome Jerry Warden for a special live interview.

Warden is a long time figure in the Dallas Fort Worth underground, a musician and scene builder who has been active since the early 80s. He first formed Warlock in 1981 alongside his brother Dave during the same early wave that saw bands like Rigor Mortis and what would become Pantera emerging from the same regional fire.

After naming conflicts in the international metal world, the band later became Warlock Texas, but Warden’s story didn’t stop there. Over the decades he has remained a steady voice in the DFW metal scene, earning him a reputation among locals as a key early organizer and advocate for the regional underground.

Today, he steps into the spotlight as the founder of the Heavy Metal Hall of Fame, a passion project built to honor the culture, history, and community of heavy music. Warden has also been outspoken about wanting to preserve the legacy of classic metal, with deep ties and friendships across the Texas scene, including longtime connections to members of Pantera’s circle and beyond.

This interview goes beyond nostalgia. It is about how scenes are built, who gets remembered, and what it takes to keep heavy music’s history alive when nobody else is doing the paperwork.
