Slasher Dave Reacts To ICP Gathering Cancellations

Slasher Dave most well known for his band Acid Witch , took to Facebook today and pointed out some things about the Insane Clown Posse cancellation that i have to say i totally agree with and so i figured i should share it with you fine people! Read it below.

Seen a lot of peeps throwing around the Gathering is canceled post saying “we live in strange times when ICP are more sensible than our leaders”. This isn’t meant as a diss to anyone. Just a little eye opener if you have an open mind....
You are talking about a musical act that has created a 30 year strong subculture of millions of people that are anti-racist/anti-bigotry. On top of that they’ve giving a place for children of broken fucked up homes, deadass poor people with zero hope a place to make friends/families. What is so dumb about that? These are facts. To your dumb ass sheeple “magnets how do they work” comments. FUCK. OFF. You want to take a comedic joke line in a song and say that’s what they are ALL about? To that line I can give 1,000,000 other lines that have a great message and real substance. They’ve always mixed dumb comedy shit in they are CLOWN characters.
Please enlighten me and show me ONE other band that have created an entire world like this with such positive outcomes and thinking for their fans. Juggalos are easy targets but they’ve never been exploited like Punk and Metal have in the mainstream. Kim Kardashian wearing Morbid Angel shirts. You will NEVER see these “cool people” sporting an ICP shirt. EVER. Because they are the real underground. They aren’t “cool”. They are just them. They are the last music subculture that will ever exist as far as letting music you listen to influence not only the way you dress (punk and metal) but also give you positive way of thinking and and a clear message of HELPING OTHERS IN NEED OUT.
This said. Delete me if you disagree, because you are either naive and have a very closed mind, a racist/bigot, or hate people that can’t help to be poor (which is kind of another dumb stereo type really because more than half of them at least drop thousands more on merch than you do with your favorite bands). Don’t hate what you don’t understand. If it’s not for you it’s not for you. Let your freak flag fly! Fuck it we shouldn’t be here to impress anybody, we should be here to help others out and not judge a book by its cover. So take out “meth head” druggie stereotype comments out because I can point out THOUSANDS of more drugged up alcoholic losers in the metal scene.

Check out Acid Witch on Bandcamp, if you have not already!

"They may be insane but this is the right move.
The Insane Clown Posse announced on Wednesday that they're canceling this year's Gathering of the Juggalos due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The festival celebrating the hardcore hip hop duo will be postponed to next year.
"The bottom line is that we REFUSE to risk even ONE Juggalo life by hosting a Gathering during these troubling times," the Insane Clown Posse said in a statement posted to Twitter.
The group, comprised of Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope, then referenced their most recent album titled "Fearless Fred Fury" to advise their fans "to heed the words of Fred Fury and Flip the Rat: 'BE SAFE: Watch your step and take it easy. You can't replace what you mean to our team."
The Gathering of the Juggalos, which has brought thousands of devoted fans together for the past 20 years, was set to take place from August 5-8 this year at the Nelson Ledges Quarry Park in Garrettsville, Ohio.
The event, known for its rowdy, hard-partying crowd, typically features wrestling, wet t-shirt contests and of course, high-energy performances by the Insane Clown Posse .

In 2011, an FBI report classified the group's fans, known as Juggalos, as a "loosely organized hybrid gang," noting that "most crimes committed by Juggalos are sporadic, disorganized, individualistic, and often involve simple assault, personal drug use and possession, petty theft and vandalism."
In 2014, Insane Clown Posse and four fans sued the FBI over the classification and in 2017, hundreds gathered at the National Mall in Washington to protest it.
"Juggalos are a 'family' of people who love and help one another, enjoy one another's company, and bond over the music and a philosophy of life," the 2014 lawsuit stated. "Organized crime is by no means part of the Juggalo culture."
ICP and their fans eventually lost the legal battle.
Earlier this week a representative of the group's label was seen -- clown mask and all -- delivering hundreds of the band's shirts to be made into masks, TMZ reported. They will eventually be distributed to Detroit healthcare workers. They also released an app, named Custom Clown Clips, for fans to order video messages and stay connected during the pandemic."
