California heavy rock torchbearers SÖNUS have officially unleashed their crushing new release Planes of Torment , now available on a limited translucent fiery orange vinyl pressing. This marks the first-ever vinyl edition in the band’s history, delivering the full weight of their psychedelic heavy rock ritual straight to turntables worldwide.

Following the underground momentum of 2022’s Usurper of the Universe , which climbed the Doom Charts and solidified SÖNUS as a rising force in modern heavy rock, mastermind David Wachsman pushed through personal collapse and transformation to forge something even more intense. Out of chaos came Planes of Torment , an album built on adversity, obsession, and pure devotion to heavy music.

The limited fiery orange vinyl edition is available now, with full album streaming unlocked for fans immediately.

Blending classic heavy metal influence with sprawling psychedelic textures and progressive depth, Planes of Torment channels the spirit of the genre’s golden age while carving its own molten identity. Recorded live in the studio to preserve raw performance energy, the record hits with the kind of grit you cannot fake.

At the core is Wachsman handling lead vocals, guitars, synths, lyrics, and arrangements. He is joined by Dave Reno on bass and backing vocals, Colin Drake Jaramillo on drums and backing vocals, special guest Mike “Gory” Gorman on rhythm guitar, and Will Harper on flute for the epic track “Scorpio,” adding a haunting layer to the journey.

The result is a towering slab of heavy rock and metal, packed with soaring riffs, hypnotic grooves, cosmic atmosphere, and emotionally charged songwriting. From despair and madness to resilience and redemption, Planes of Torment takes listeners through the fire and leaves nothing untouched.
