The Proxima Design, the progressive death metal project led by solo artist Jake Morgan, has announced the upcoming release of its debut single “Tongues Carved From Glass,” arriving May 9, 2026 . The track serves as the first official preview from the forthcoming full-length album The Door on the Left , due later this year.

Built on a foundation of technical precision and progressive songwriting, The Proxima Design pushes into a hybrid sound space blending progressive metal and technical death metal, landing firmly in what Morgan describes as progressive death metal. The result is dense, aggressive, and meticulously structured music that demands full attention from the listener.

“Tongues Carved From Glass” introduces the project with sharp intent, showcasing tightly woven arrangements, shifting rhythmic structures, and a controlled sense of chaos that defines the project’s direction from the outset.

The single features guest drum work by Robin Stone, adding a dynamic and powerful rhythmic foundation to the track, while mixing and mastering by Mike Killian delivers a clean yet crushing sonic presentation.

Fans of The Zenith Passage , Between the Buried and Me , and Fallujah will find familiar elements here, though The Proxima Design carves its own identity through conceptual focus and tightly controlled composition.
