Legendary UK black metal pioneers Venom have announced their sixteenth studio album, Into Oblivion , scheduled for release on May 1, 2026 via Noise Records / BMG . The album’s lead single, Lay Down Your Soul , is available now for streaming and video, and preorders are live here: https://venomslegions.lnk.to/intooblivionPR.
Formed in Newcastle in 1979, Venom are widely credited as the originators of black metal, influencing generations of extreme metal acts worldwide. With a career spanning over four decades, the band continues to push boundaries while remaining true to their chaotic, dark, and heavy roots.
Into Oblivion is the first Venom album since 2018’s Storm the Gates and features the long-standing lineup of Cronos (bass/vocals), Rage (guitar) and Dante (drums). This lineup, together for 17 years, is the longest-running in the band’s history.
Commenting on the album, Cronos said:
“This album has really pushed the boundaries, but if you want to make a killer album, you pay for it in blood, sweat and tears.”
Rage added:
“I’m so proud of this album. It feels so different, yet so familiar. The sonics are a step up. No song sounds the same, but they all work together.”
The album features 13 tracks combining classic Venom aggression with modern production and progressive touches, staying heavy, evil, and irresistibly catchy. The lead single, Lay Down Your Soul , recalls the band’s early sound and the spirit of the iconic track Black Metal , complete with a rousing sing-along chorus ready for live stages. Cronos explains:
“It’s healthy to recognize things from back in the day and bring them into a new setting that gives it a whole fresh approach. The fans are going to go mental for it!”
Into Oblivion will be available in multiple formats:
Double gatefold smoke vinyl
Double gatefold clear, black & red splatter vinyl (Limited Edition)
CD digisleeve with 16-page booklet
Digital
Preorders of both vinyl and CD from the Noise Records store include a limited photo card signed by Cronos, Rage, and Dante, while supplies last.
With Into Oblivion , Venom not only revisit their legendary past but also reaffirm their place as one of extreme metal’s most enduring and influential forces.
