Danish experimental metal innovators Mezmerizer are back in the studio, crafting the follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2024 debut, Whispers of Leviathan . Known for blending prog, thrash, groove, death, and black metal with unexpected melodic twists, the band is taking a fresh approach for their second album.

Guitarist Flemming Goldberg-Larsen explains that this new material focuses on giving more space to frontman Michael Bastholm Dahl (ex-Artillery), creating songs that are more immediate while still carrying Mezmerizer’s trademark complexity. Fans can expect a balance of technical mastery, memorable hooks, and some surprises along the way.

In addition to the album, the band is exploring a collection of acoustic and clean-guitar tracks, which may become a standalone EP. “These songs may seem more laid-back, but we’re excited to see what emerges when we dive into this different side of Mezmerizer,” Goldberg-Larsen says.

Even as they work on this next chapter, the band is already teasing material for a third album, promising some tracks so proggy and unconventional that headbanging might be impossible—but the musical rewards will be immense.
