Heavy metal has never been just music. It’s a lifestyle and a statement in one. But when it’s part of a film, it turns into an experience that’s both cinematic and deeply personal. It turns into something even bigger, which is something metalheads might go crazy for. Well, it's completely different when we hear our favorite metal songs being used in a story that we can relate to or even just for the pure fun of it.

Upon browsing through the web, we’ve noticed that a lot of metalheads are looking for the “best” metal films. So we figured, why not make a blog post out of it? There are lots of streaming deals available right now that include many heavy metal movies. But which of them are really worth watching? Let’s talk about them below.

Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny (2006)

If you're looking for a metal movie that has rock opera and stoner comedy, you'll love this movie. ack Black and Kyle Gass play themselves on a wild adventure to steal the Pick of Destiny, a guitar pick made from Satan’s tooth that’s said to give anyone unstoppable rock power. It may not have done well in theaters, but over time it’s become a cult favorite for metal fans. It has so many silly jokes, beautiful music, and absurd scenes like the one where Satan agrees to a rock-off challenge.

Spinal Tap (1984)

Ever wondered what the funniest music movie is? Well, you've got it here. This Is Spinal Tap is a mockumentary about a fictional British metal band that’s trying to stay relevant. Even though it's not a real-life story, it felt so real that many fans and musicians were able to relate. From the Stonehenge stage prop disaster to the amps that “go to eleven,” the movie is filled with scenes that are still quoted today. It’s hilarious, but it also has heart while it shows the struggles and silliness of being in a band. Just make sure you have fast internet when you stream this movie so you can really enjoy it.

Deathgasm

Airheads

Airheads is one of those movies that’s just pure fun to watch. It’s about a band so desperate to get their music on the radio that they end up holding the whole station hostage. The plot is ridiculous, but that’s the charm of it, like the classic line, "Who would win a wrestling match, Lemmy or God?" The cast makes it even better, with Brendan Fraser, Steve Buscemi, and Adam Sandler all playing their roles perfectly.

It might not be a serious film about music, but it nails the passion, the struggle, and the lengths bands will go to just to be heard. We remember someone watching it on the bus on their mobile phone, but they had poor mobile connection so it kept buffering. Moral of the story? Make sure you have a fast mobile plan like Boost plans . That’s just it.

Metal Lords

Metal Lords is about two friends who want to start a metal band in high school. It shows the struggles of being a teenager, trying to fit in, and chasing a dream to play loud music. The movie has lots of fun references that metal fans will catch. However, some viewers felt that Hunter, the main metalhead character, was too much of a jerk and didn’t really change by the end. But what we love about this movie is the realness and how it shows the ups and downs of being young and the mistakes we make along the way.

The Bottom Line

There’s way too many heavy metal movies out there, but there are only some that are really worth watching. But if you’re really looking for the best metal films, we won’t let you down with this list. Make sure to give them a try and let us know if you loved it or loved it very much. Happy watching!
