Fans of the Prince of Darkness were left stunned this week when a brand-new documentary chronicling the “last chapter” of Ozzy Osbourne’s life was abruptly pulled from the BBC schedule. Originally set to air Monday, August 18 on BBC One and iPlayer, Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home was removed to honor the wishes of Ozzy’s family. In its place? An episode of Fake Or Fortune.

The BBC released a brief statement, saying:

“Our sympathies are with the Osbourne family at this difficult time. We are respecting the family's wishes to wait a bit longer before airing this very special film. The new transmission date will be confirmed shortly.”

The hour-long documentary had promised an intimate and emotional glimpse into Ozzy’s life over the last three years, capturing the highs and lows of his final journey. Fans were set to see Ozzy, Sharon, Jack, and Kelly Osbourne navigate life, love, and the challenging realities of Ozzy’s health as he fought to stay fit enough to perform, all while preparing for a long-held dream: moving back to the U.K.

Described by producers as “full of love, laughter, and tears,” the film was intended to celebrate both Ozzy’s enduring spirit and the rock legend’s deep bond with his family. Kelly Osbourne’s poignant reflection, “Iron man wasn’t really made of iron,” underscores the vulnerability and humanity behind the legendary figure.

BBC head of commissioning, Clare Sillery, called the project “an intimate glimpse into their journey,” while executive producers Ben Wicks and Colin Barr described it as “an inspiring and poignant account of him fulfilling his dream” and a testament to Ozzy’s mischief, honesty, and family devotion.

Originally planned as a series titled Home To Roost back in 2022, the project evolved into a single documentary as Ozzy’s health worsened. His death on July 22, at 76, from a heart attack—complicated by coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease—cast a shadow over what was meant to be a celebratory retrospective.

For now, fans will have to wait to see the final moments of one of rock’s most iconic lives captured on screen. One thing is clear: when the documentary finally airs, it won’t just be about music—it will be a tribute to the man behind the legend, the love of his family, and the unforgettable mark Ozzy left on the world.
