If you haven’t plugged into Ov Ruin yet, you’re missing one of the fiercest new forces in the underground. Tennessee’s symphonic blackened deathcore outfit dropped their debut album Eternal Lament recently—and it’s already making waves. Now, they’re gearing up to unleash their first-ever live show at Tennessee Metal Devastation Fest 2025, and the hype is real.
We first heard about Ov Ruin through our vendor SmithOddities, who tipped us off about a Nashville coffee roaster that not only serves killer beans but also happens to have an absolutely crushing band on the side. Turns out, their music was way too good to ignore. As we said, “Fuck the coffee, dude—we had to get these guys on stage!”
Their debut album isn’t just another record—it’s a full-on assault on your senses. Drawing inspiration from Dark Souls , Elden Ring , and iconic fantasy scores like Lord of the Rings , Eternal Lament mixes cinematic symphonics with blackened deathcore fury. Imagine the chaotic precision of Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza crashing into the sinister atmospheres of Cradle of Filth—that’s the kind of beast they’ve unleashed.
In our chat, the band and I took a trip down memory lane, bonding over the golden era of Ozzfest. They fondly recalled Slipknot’s 1999 second-stage set, decked out in orange jumpsuits—a moment that defined raw underground energy. Our vision for Tennessee Metal Devastation Fest? To be the Ozzfest for the underground, cutting the mainstream fluff and giving underground bands the exposure they deserve.
Here’s the kicker: despite the band members being scattered from Nashville to Boston, their debut live show is locked in for TMDMF 2025 on October 11th. They’re pulling out all the stops, including secret guest appearances and a killer merch drop featuring vinyl and more.
These guys aren’t just shredding—they’re engineering. Ov Ruin relies on Neural DSP plugins to craft their studio sound and bring the fury live with Abasi 7-string guitars and 5150 cabinets. “We’re our own engineers now,” they say, and it shows in every crushing riff.
The band’s already working on a follow-up EP that promises to take things even further. Expect more face-melting riffs and next-level brutality. If Eternal Lament was the foundation, this next step is set to blow the roof off.
Blast Eternal Lament on Bandcamp now and mark your calendars for October 11th. Ov Ruin’s live debut at Tennessee Metal Devastation Fest is set to be a historic moment for underground metal. This is the new wave of heavy—get violent or get out.
