FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Friday Night Metal Devastation: Signs of the Swarm and Quiescent Mantis Bring the Heat on The Zach Moonshine Show

This past Friday night , The Zach Moonshine Show on Metal Devastation Radio delivered a punishing double-feature of interviews and music, spotlighting two of the heaviest bands crushing the underground right now: Signs of the Swarm and Quiescent Mantis . Brought to you by the upcoming Tennessee Metal Devastation Music Fest , the show was a full-force barrage of deathcore, chaos, stories from the road, and raw passion for heavy music.

Signs of the Swarm: Bobby Crow Talks Truth, Tour, and Total Devastation

First up was Bobby Crow , drummer of Signs of the Swarm , who gave fans a deep look into the band’s next chapter. With their new album To Rid Myself of Truth dropping August 22nd via Century Media Records , Bobby shared the band’s mindset going into the release:

“We’re just here to make fun heavy music and have a good time… There’s a little something for just about everybody if you like heavy shit!”

The new record features blistering guest appearances by Will Ramos (Lorna Shore), Phil Bozeman (Whitechapel), Jack Murray (156/Silence), and Johnny Crowder (Prison), with themes touching on frontman Dave’s personal struggles—including his battle with a degenerative eye disease, featured in the haunting track A Cloud of Retinas .

“He’s opening up more than ever… It’s about trying to speak your truth but still make it relatable and heavy as hell.”

From their massive touring schedule to sampling car trunks and squeaky drum stools for sonic mayhem, Signs of the Swarm proves they’re not just heavy—they're thoughtful, driven, and still evolving.

Quiescent Mantis: Return to the Swarm at Tennessee Metal Devastation Fest

Following Bobby’s appearance, Tennessee’s own Quiescent Mantis jumped on the air to talk about their return to the Metal Devastation Music Fest —and they’re not holding back.

“We’re coming back with a vengeance,” declared Chris. “We’re not leaving disappointed like last year—we’re putting our foot down so everybody knows how to say Quiescent Mantis.”

Known for their outrageous on-stage antics—including crowd surfing on blow-up mattresses—the band promised even more surprises this time around. But they’re also evolving musically, incorporating in-ear monitors and writing their second album , the follow-up to Exodus Strategem .

The band reflected on last year’s set, calling it a standout moment:

“Getting the crowd that involved that early… just seeing that reaction around noon, it was incredible. And playing guest vocals with Autumn Lies Buried and crowd surfing—it was chaos in the best way.”

Inspired by sci-fi monsters and creature flicks like Starship Troopers and King Kong , Quiescent Mantis is all about world-building, live energy, and pure underground grit.

A Unified Underground Scene

What tied both interviews together was a shared sense of community. Whether it’s Bobby talking about bringing friends onto tracks or Chris describing spontaneous collaborations on stage, both bands emphasized the importance of connection in today’s metal scene.

“We’re all just a bunch of misfits doing the thing,” said Jordan of Quiescent Mantis.
“This scene now is a lot healthier than it used to be… It’s about love of music and lifting each other up,” Bobby echoed.

Don’t Miss What’s Coming Next

With Signs of the Swarm gearing up to release one of the year's most anticipated deathcore albums, and Quiescent Mantis set to decimate the Tennessee Metal Devastation Fest once again, Friday night’s show was more than just interviews—it was a preview of destruction to come .
