Death metal mainstays SIX FEET UNDER are deep into the creation of their next sonic onslaught — a yet-to-be-titled album set to arrive in early 2026 via Metal Blade Records. According to founding frontman Chris Barnes, fans should prepare for a record that stands among the band’s finest.

Taking to social media earlier today (July 17), Barnes shared an enthusiastic update on the album’s progress:

“We are excited to inform our fans that Mr. Jack ‘The Explosion’ Owen has completed recording his guitar tracks for the new SIX FEET UNDER album at AudioHammer with Jason Suecof! And WOW what a killer guitar tone and performance... AMAZING!”

Barnes went on to describe the project as “one of our most interesting albums to date,” blending the brutality of modern death metal with the classic groove that helped define the band's signature sound since their formation in the mid-90s. With Marco Pitruzzella locking down drums in thunderous fashion and bassist Jeff Hughell up next to lay down low-end punishment, all signs point to a crushing, dynamic release.

The new album follows 2024's Killing For Revenge — a ferocious return to form that saw Barnes and longtime collaborator Jack Owen (ex-CANNIBAL CORPSE) reunite for the second time since 2020's Nightmares of the Decomposed. Guitarist Ray Suhy will soon contribute lead parts, while Barnes plans to record his vocals at Miami’s famed Criteria Recording Studios with trusted engineer Chris Carroll, a staple of SIX FEET UNDER’s vocal sound for years.

Barnes emphasized the strength of the current lineup:

“Jeff and Marco have been with me for about 10 years. I'm really fortunate that I have probably the best musicians in metal... Jack's the greatest songwriter I've ever been involved with, and Ray is just a phenomenal guitarist who can play everything from jazz to death metal. The lineup now is untouchable.”

Before the album’s release, SIX FEET UNDER will hit the road this fall across the United States, beginning September 20, with support from EXHORDER, WRETCHED, and INCITE. Fans are encouraged to grab tickets early as anticipation builds.
