Norwegian death metal legends CADAVER are back with a vengeance, revisiting long-lost material that sheds light on their formative years. Their latest release, "Maltreated Mind Makes Man Manic," is a raw and unrelenting glimpse into the band's sonic evolution, proving once again that they have never been content to follow the rules of extreme music—they break them. This long-lost track, which was originally conceived in 1993 and finalized in 2024, is finally seeing the light of day, embodying over three decades of pent-up rage and chaotic energy.

The track serves as a haunting testament to the band's staying power and their ability to channel madness into crushing riffs and unhinged aggression.

Cover Art and Concept

The cover art for "Hymns of Misanthropy" features an excerpt from Christ in Limbo (1575), a striking oil painting on panel created by an unknown follower of Hieronymus Bosch. The piece is owned by the Martha Delzell Memorial Fund, adding an eerie and historical depth to the album’s already bleak themes.

A Look Back at CADAVER's Legacy

Formed in 1988 by Anders Odden and Ole Bjerkebakke , CADAVER are widely recognized as one of the pioneers of Norwegian death metal. Their debut album, "Hallucinating Anxiety" (1990), holds the distinction of being Norway’s first death metal full-length release. Despite numerous breakups and reformations, CADAVER have remained a relentless force in the extreme metal scene, with Odden being the only constant member throughout the band's history.

Between 1999 and 2001, the band operated under the name Cadaver Inc. , further cementing their reputation for unpredictability and chaos. Now, with a renewed lineup and a fresh wave of brutal material, they continue to push boundaries and defy expectations.
