VELVETCUT , the Finnish band known for their nostalgic ‘90s grunge and alternative rock sound, is making a powerful comeback with the release of their new track Lady! (Panic Is On The Way) , out on January 16, 2025. After a twelve-year hiatus, the band returns with a song that marks the beginning of their long-awaited return to the music scene. This single will be accompanied by two previously released tracks, "Do I Do" and "Eating Machine," both of which will appear on their upcoming album due later this year.

VELVETCUT's sound, rich in ‘90s grunge elements, pays homage to iconic acts like Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, and Pearl Jam, drawing upon the raw and gritty textures that defined an entire era of rock. Formed at the turn of the millennium, the band initially gained attention with their fusion of gothic rock before evolving into a more energizing and bold rock and roll style. Their discography, which includes one EP and three full-length albums, reflects their musical evolution while preserving the essence of the grunge aesthetic.

Lady! (Panic Is On The Way) is a special release for the band, as it was originally written in 1997. It was first released on Velvetcut's debut album Thirteen (2006) under the title "Lady Solitude," as a gothic rock version. Now, the song has been reimagined and transformed back to its original form as it was in the ‘90s grunge era, giving fans a fresh take on a beloved track.

The song, alongside the earlier singles "Do I Do" and "Eating Machine," continues Velvetcut’s exploration of the gritty and melancholic textures of ‘90s grunge. Eating Machine was originally launched on April 5, 2024—a significant date for grunge fans marking the anniversaries of Kurt Cobain’s and Layne Staley’s deaths.

VELVETCUT has been an integral part of the Finnish music scene, having performed at major festivals like Provinssirock. Now, under the banner of Rockhopper Music, the band is set to reignite the flames of their fanbase while drawing in a new generation of grunge and alternative rock listeners.
