A new force in trans-Atlantic metal is rising. GREY MOUNTAIN , a project featuring members of Monsterworks, Bull Elephant, Construct of Lethe, and Black Harvest, will unleash their highly anticipated self-titled debut album on March 7 via Eat Lead and Die Music.
The brainchild of Jon Higgs (guitar/vocals; also of Thūn and Moose Cult ) and Kishor Haulenbeek (guitars, bass, vocals; also of Black Harvest, Construct of Lethe, and In Human Form ), GREY MOUNTAIN brings together a wealth of talent and experience. Rounding out the lineup is Higgs’ longtime collaborator and “brother-in-arms,” drummer James Garnett ( Monsterworks ).
The result is a sound that defies easy categorization, fusing traditional heavy metal, death, doom, post-metal, and discordant elements into a sonic experience that feels both familiar and entirely fresh.
In describing the project’s genesis, Higgs reveals the organic evolution of GREY MOUNTAIN :
"I got to know Kishor through metalforum.com and initially hired him to paint a cover for Bull Elephant's third album. By 2023, I asked if he’d play bass on some tracks I had in mind. Not only did he say yes, but he also contributed his own song ideas, guitar leads, and even vocals. His contributions brought the music to new heights. Couple that with James’ rocky yet hard-hitting drumming, and we’ve created something truly unique. We’re already planning our second album!"
Drums were recorded by Jamie Masters at Echo Studios in Buckinghamshire, while the final mastering was handled by the legendary Dan Swanö at Unisound, ensuring a dynamic polish to the album’s production.
From its cover art (created by Haulenbeek) to mixing duties handled by Higgs himself, GREY MOUNTAIN stands as a testament to the band’s hands-on approach.
The first single, the album’s title track “Grey Mountain,” is streaming now on Bandcamp and Ampwall , offering fans a taste of the sonic journey that awaits.
The album will be available digitally on Bandcamp in multiple formats, including a 24-bit full dynamic range vinyl master . Fans can also find the release on the new music platform Ampwall .
