Crymwav Unleashes New Single Contagious – A Dark, Danceable Anthem Ahead of Their Upcoming LP

The track is the first taste of their upcoming full-length LP Chop Chop, set to be released in March 2025. Known for their blend of hard rock, punk, and post-punk influences, Contagious is a captivating fusion of dark energy and infectious hooks that will have you hooked from the first note.

Contagious is a dark yet danceable anthem that blends the band’s signature sound with an irresistible groove. The track is filled with power, intensity, and memorable melodies, showcasing the band's ability to craft songs that are as infectious as they are powerful. With this single, Crymwav takes their sonic evolution to new heights, offering a tantalizing preview of what’s to come on their upcoming LP.

Formed in 2022 from the ashes of the beloved Los Angeles rock band Smash Fashion, Crymwav brings together a powerhouse lineup of musicians with diverse backgrounds. The band is fronted by guitarist and songwriter Roger Deering (Smash Fashion), alongside Lloyd Stuart Casson (lead guitar, backing vocals), Greg Rogers (Goatsnake, ex-Obsessed; drums), and Bruce Braddock (bass guitar).

The band’s sound draws influence from a wide array of genres, blending the gritty energy of punk and post-punk with the hard-hitting edge of hard rock. Crymwav’s unique style echoes the sounds of classic rock bands like UFO, Thin Lizzy, and Sisters of Mercy, while infusing it with the intensity of bands like Hawkwind, The Clash, and Killing Joke. Their music captures the raw energy of their 80s American hardcore roots while incorporating the darker, more urgent elements of their musical inspirations.

Roger Deering reflects, “Crymwav started to come together for me while I was staying in London about three years ago. Smash Fashion was at a standstill, and I was writing darker, heavier material. It was clear this was a different muse, and I wanted to channel the energy of bands like Hawkwind and Motörhead. When I came back to LA, everything clicked, and the band came to life.”

In November 2023, Crymwav released their self-recorded 6-song EP 24/7, which garnered rave reviews, including a feature in Guitar World Magazine and substantial airplay worldwide. With the release of Contagious, Crymwav continues to push their sound forward, delivering a fresh take on rock and roll that blends classic influences with their own distinctive flair.
