There are those musicians who just seem completely at home when they’re dabbling in different styles. One such musician is Riley Cameron, the guy behind Midnight Daydream, a band which combines elements of hard rock, electro, hip-hop and nu metal and now, Midnight Daydream have released their self-titled album.

‘Midnight Daydream’ is a deeply personal and emotive album. Cameron digs deep and bears his soul delivering both the music and lyrics in a positive way. This album has those early 2000’s big chugging nu-metal riffs coupled with rapped lyrics with tracks times varying from the short two-minute mark pushing over six minutes and in between these tracks are short instrumentals which serve as a nice palate cleanser, some light refreshment from the intense nu-metal sound. Tracks such as ‘Forever’ show that the new blood can still write classic tracks whilst ‘No Place to Hide’ is arguably the best track on the album showing all the appeal of ‘Hybrid Theory’ or ‘Infest’ era Linkin Park/Papa Roach whilst the undertone synths would bring in fans of Asking Alexandria.

As an album, ‘Midnight Daydream’ may not be the usual listen for everyone, but this album is more than entertaining and any fan of that late 90’s, early 2000’s nu metal sound will find ‘Midnight Daydream’ thoroughly enjoyable.
