"Stranglehold" opens the record with a proven, spherical acoustic introduction, enclosing the characteristically suffering vocals, dark-heavy guitar riffs in the mid-tempo range alternate with restrainedly instrumented strophic parts. However, "When a Dead Man Walks" seems even more difficult to grasp than "A Ravens View", which is mainly due to the fact that the melodies are even more difficult, even more hidden, this time. This approach then runs through most of the songs. While tracks like the driving "In Nomine" with great bass leads, the powerful "It all ends" or the melancholic "A Timeless Chair" ignite immediately, many of the compositions only reveal their beauty after intensive listening. Details must first be discovered, then understood and finally classified. This applies above all to numbers like "Dance of Mists", which comes up with innovative melody work, or the introverted "He has fallen". However, if you take the necessary time and willingness to let the songs sink in, the complexity and versatility of the arrangements gradually become apparent. metal--division--magazine
