EATEN BY SHARKS play Technical Death Metal, hail from Canada and were formed in 2018. Their first album “Eradication” was released in 2022 and has a playing time of 27 minutes spread over seven songs. The album was produced, mixed and mastered by Christian Donaldson, who has also worked for bands such as CRYPTOPSY, BEYOND CREATION and THE AGONIST. The album was released on CD and digital download. Behind “Eradication” is a mixture of music and concept, to be precise: metal meets shark. The original album contains seven tracks, the re-release nine songs. However, the two additional songs are not new songs, but merely the instrumental editions of Depth Charge' and 'Dead Weight'. According to EATEN BY SHARKS, these two songs were the songs which were most requested by the fan community - probably because of the creative singing. So they would be perfect for singing along to Matt's vocals. I just love the fact that this reissue will be released to coincide with Shark Week 2023 and comes bundled with a 110cm2 fabric flag, bottle opener and sticker.

Since neither remastered nor new songs have been added here, "Eradication" is just a normal repress that we only have in digital form and we can't rate the gimmicks of the box either. Therefore there is no grade for this “update”.

The CDN Records reissue includes two bonus instrumental songs that were selected because of their unique approach to progressive tech death. These songs are the ones that have been requested the most by our fan base, and they have some really creative vocals. They highlight the work of the instruments, as well as giving the listener a bed track if they want to attempt to sing along to Matt’s vocals.
