The bands of our times today do many things visually or aurally to distinguish themselves from the common denominator of other bands, while Paracrona 's new Norwegians have as their first visual approach to have a presentation different from the common 90s bands with painted faces. , all in black or like the bands of today with hoods, masks as utensils within their art. Because this band dresses like a rock or pop band from the 80s and with a lot of doses of the 90s for the presentation of this first album called “ Sun God ”. So, will we have something musically different from other bands within music and not just visual?... Well, let's see.

One of the things that caught my attention about Paracrona in this “ Sun God ” were the outfits of the musicians, but after listening to the 56 minutes of music that this first album has, I find myself with a Black Metal band.Norwegian flavor in many ways without any personality involved, but beware, this is not bad, on the contrary, there are many things that stand out as musicians. And the fact that the album lasts almost 60 minutes, but can fit very well within that time, is that the music works perfectly and the whole band is in complete connection with the band's musical senses. But what, this time it affects and they went too far, is the visual context or the appearances of the musicians, because it's okay to try to be different and they applaud, but there is no concrete way in their appearance, and it feels forced. a general level. Because if we talk about things that don't fit in looks and music, the Russians have always been ahead since forever, because they had Black Metal, Death Metal bands, or whatever, and they dressed as they wanted, but there was a correlation between them, but not in Paracrona . So this idea will have two sides, those who like it and those who don't like it, but only on a visual level, since on a musical level it is a well-structured idea.

Since everything starts with “ New Impurity ” and ends with “ Reasons ”, and apart from the messy visual aspect of their clothes, which really matters little in general, is that they have very well elaborated music, which despite having Influences from many Black Metal bands from their country, there are moments that can speak highly of them as a band in the future. Because there are moments where they fit strong death rhythms with Black Metal tremolosof a lifetime, but at the same time there are mysterious, icy and other technical elements that mix very well with all the mortar of extreme ideas that this band has. Demonstrating at a general level that it is a good start as a band, and that they can even drink from quasi-progressive elements, it gives them an interesting approach, and that Emperor is their greatest source of inspiration for one of the things that stands out on the entire album. So the guitars play very well, the bass complements everything well, Baard Kolstad 's drums demonstrate more extreme technique compared to his work done in Borknagar and obviously far from Leprous .. So there are varied techniques throughout the album, there is very well-developed music and not too much lace, even though we're talking about a nearly 60-minute album.

Paracrona 's “ Sun God ” is a good start for the band, there is a lot of adaptability at a general level among many rhythms, where Death Metal and Black Metal weigh heavily, but then many other details raise the schemes and you find a band with good inclinations and with a solid idea to continue developing his music. FFO: Behemoth, Mayhem, Dark Funeral

Location: Norway Oslo

‘SUN GOD‘, the debut release from prog death metallers PARACRONA, is an abrasive and dark album but one with a fresh perspective on death metal.  The dark and blackened music is straightforward in its desire to fry the senses but unpredictable in the approach it takes; each song offers something different, adding up to a twisted but worthwhile journey.  The album has been brought to life mixing and mastering by the legendary Fredrik Nordstrom, who produced albums from the original Gothenburg death metal scene, among many, many others!

PARACRONA was formed by Ringo Christiaan Van Droffelaar and Oystein Hansen, from the Netherlands and Norway, respectively.  After meeting at the 2007 edition of Wacken Open Air, the two formed a musical bond and began recording ‘SUN GOD’ IN 2016.  After many delays, including the pandemic and Ringo’s battle with cancer, lead to the album being released this year.

‘Sun God,’ explores themes of ancient, old belief systems with the idea that the ‘Sun God,’ is within you.  Fighting against the powers of greed, ego, pseudo science and misinformation, the album is about breaking free from these dark, even Satanic, forces and finding the strength within oneself.

Mixed and mastered bye Fredrik Nordström and re-amped by Fredrik Nordström at Studio Fredman, Drums recorded at Strand Studio Strand by Marius Strand. Drums played by Baard Kolstad on tracks Carry The Cross and Thriller. - kronosmortusnews
