Obsidian Shrine - Consortium In Diaboli (Split With Sôlt) - Reviewed By occultblackmetalzine ! Check it out here at this link: https://occultblackmetalzine.blogspot.com/2023/05/obsidian-shrinesoltconsortium-in.html
This is a review of a self released split album between Tennessee's Obsidian Shrine and Illinois's Sôlt called "Consortium In Diaboli" and we will start off the review with Obsidian Shrine a band that has been featured before in this zine and plays a satanic form of black metal.
Their side of the split starts out with the sounds of fire and demonic voices before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats while t he vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams and the music is heavily rooted in the 90's era.
A small amount of melody can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing along with the solos and leads also remaining true to an old school style as well as some battle horns also being added on one of the tracks and throughout their side of the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, choirs can also be heard briefly towards the end. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Satanism, Luciferian, Mythology, Blasphemy, Anti Christianity and hatred themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Obsidian Shrine and if you are a fan of satanic black metal, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Call of Charon".
Next up is Sôlt a band that plays a misanthropic form of black metal.
Their side of the split starts out with some clean playing before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast b eats. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams and the songs also mix in a good amount of old school influences.
Throughout their side of the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style as well as giving the tracks more of a modern touch. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover nihilism, hypocrisy and spiritual collapse themes.
In my opinion Sôlt are a very great sounding misanthropic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Our Lady of Pestilence".
In my opinion this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of raw, old school satanic and misanthropic black metal. 8 out of 10. occultblackmetalzine
