NERGARD - Live In Kalvåa (EP) - Reviewed By keep-on-rocking ! Check it out here at this link: https://keep-on-rocking.com/2023/05/07/nergard-live-in-kalvaa/
The band is named after guitarist and bassist Andreas Nergård from Norway. He launched the band in 2010. Since then there have been several line-up changes. The current lineup was completed in 2022. Meanwhile, Nergard are no longer a purely Norwegian band. Members from UK and Sweden can now be found in the cast list. Nevertheless, three albums, two EPs and countless singles were released during this time. In 2018 the debut album Memorial For A Wish was re-released with an additional song. The latest coup is the live album Live In Kalvåa.
Nergard band photoPowered off without a hitch with "Hell On Earth". All three singers hand in their business cards here. Finest Power Metal in the style of the eighties. And that's exactly how it goes with "Where No One Would Shed A Tear". With a huge guitar solo. And double bass attacks. "Angels" sounds calmer. Greater emphasis is placed on beautiful melodies. “Light And Shadows” is a bit rougher again and tends towards NWOBHM. Of course, a ballad can't be missing, and that comes with "On Through The Storm". Outstanding vocal performances, accompanied by piano sounds and keyboard carpets. The anthem "From The Cradle To The Grave" forms the end of this EP.
The fact that "Live In Kalvåa" is a live recording can only be heard from the applause at the end of the individual songs. Otherwise the sound just seems too smooth. Audience reactions during the songs? none. Was the recording too heavily post-processed in the studio? Anyway, I like the EP. For fans of Kamelot, Nightwish, Helloween you can read the promo in the email. It is exactly like that. keep-on-rocking

Short Bio: Nergard was formed way back in 2010 by band leader Andreas Nergård as a project relying on guest artists. Through ten years that spawned two full albums and two EP’s Andreas got to work with some of the biggest names in the genre such as Elize Ryd (Amaranthe) Ralf Scheepers (Gamma Ray, Primal Fear) and many more. In 2020 Andreas wanted a change and seeked to form a steady line-up for the bands third and critically acclaimed album “Eternal White”. Fronted by a unique singer trio the bands epic Symphonic Metal made them enter the charts in Germany as well as gaining a record contract in Japan. The bands new live EP showcases the new line-up in all it’s glory, uniting old and new material.
